The Arkansas Youth Challenge is - A Choice… A Challenge… A Change - A place where young people (male and female) can better prepare for their future. We instill self-discipline, motivation, honor, respect, anger management, credit recovery and a multitude of other character traits. You can also earn your Arkansas High School Diploma (GED) and scholarships to attend colleges and trade schools. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

The program is one of the original National Guard Youth Challenge Programs and is the only military based academy of its kind in the state. Our leadership-based highly disciplined educational program is designed to help today’s students prepare for being leaders tomorrow.

OUR MISSION:

The mission of the Arkansas National Guard Youth Challenge Program is to intervene in and reclaim the lives of 16-18 year-old youths in the state of Arkansas, producing program graduates with the values, life skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as productive citizens.

THE PROGRAM 8 CORE COMPONENTS

LEADERSHIP / FOLLOWERSHIP​

Learn positive leadership/followership responsibilities and positive roles within social groups.

RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP

Understand the civic responsibilities and roles of being ​a productive citizen within the community.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE​

Increase grade levels, possibly attain a GED and pursue higher education.

Education options include: GED, High School Credits, and Credit Recovery.

 Education is an opportunity to overcome barriers to learning. Many students today need a different model than sitting in a classroom with a book or computer. YCP offers many different approaches to traditional classroom learning in order to develop study skills that will benefit students throughout their educational career. 

JOB SKILLS

Learn basic employment skills, resume writing, job ​interview techniques and career exploration.

LIFE COPING SKILLS

Learn personal financial management, teamwork skills, anger management, and drug/alcohol avoidance strategies.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

Understand nutrition basics, substance abuse awareness, ​and personal hygiene necessities.

SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

Give back to the community by performing a minimum of 40 hours of service to community.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

Improve personal fitness through daily exercise, activities and sports participation.
